The Dell PowerEdge R710 servers are Dell's successor to the PowerEdge 2950 III server and the big brother to the 1U PowerEdge R610. It is a general-purpose, Intel-based, rackmount server designed with virtualization in mind by way of its myriad of high-performance options. Designed with multi-core technology from the ground up, the 2U PowerEdge R710 finds its strengths in enterprise-level environments from high-end virtualization to SQL database applications. Building on the dependability and reliability of previous generations, the PowerEdge R710 finds its strengths in higher storage capacity, higher-end CPU options and 4.5x the memory capacity of the PowerEdge 2950 III.

Like previous server generations, the PowerEdge R710 features a multitude of configuration options including up to two (2) Intel Xeon quad or six-core 5500 or 5600 series processors, up to 288GB RAM and the ability to handle 6Gbps SAS, SATA and even solid-state drives in either 3.5" or 2.5" form factors. It also includes two dual-port embedded Gigabit NIC ports, optional dual redundant power supplies and four (4) PCI Express riser slots. The PowerEdge R710 has the versatility to handle almost any datacenter task.

Had Flagship custom build us a R710 since Dell stopped selling them. We needed a spare just in case one of our existing systems went down. Shipped quickly and at a reasonable price.
