Dell PowerEdge R720 Server - Build Your Own Server

The PowerEdge R720 server is Dell's successor to the PowerEdge R710 server and the big brother to the 1U PowerEdge R620. It is a general-purpose, Intel-based, rackmount server designed with virtualization in mind by way of its myriad of high-performance options.

Designed with multi-core technology from the ground up, the 2U PowerEdge R720 finds its strengths in enterprise-level environments from high-end virtualization to SQL database applications. Building on the dependability and reliability of previous generations, the PowerEdge R720 finds its strengths in higher storage capacity, higher-end CPU options and 2.5x the memory capacity of the PowerEdge R710.

Like previous server generations, the PowerEdge R720 features a multitude of configuration options including up to two (2) Intel Xeon quad, six, eight, ten or twelve-core E5-2600 series processors, up to 768GB RAM and the ability to handle 6Gbps SAS, SATA and even solid-state drives in either 3.5" or 2.5" form factors. It also includes two dual-port embedded Gigabit NIC ports, optional dual redundant power supplies and seven (7) PCI Express riser slots. The PowerEdge R720 has the versatility to handle almost any datacenter task.
